URGENT ISSUES
Older children:
Fever more than 5 days
Any trouble breathing or an asthma flare-up
Vomiting or diarrhea with blood or weird colors (black, grey, white). Diarrhea with mucus. Unable to hold down fluids. Diarrhea more than 7 days.
Looks more sick than normal illness (not eating or playing for example)
Worsening skin infection
New rash, especially if it looks like blood under the skin, covers whole body, is associated with facial swelling, looks like hives, or is associated with fever.
For babies less than 3 months: come in if baby isn’t drinking normally (refusing milk, especially more than once). New yellow or worsening yellow skin tone. Inconsolable crying (high pitched, more than one hour), a rash that looks like bleeding under the skin.
NON-URGENT ISSUES:
Vomiting over 24 hours (if no accompanying diarrhea) and no signs of dehydration.
Ear pain.
Fever (100.4 or over) lasting over three days in child over 3 months.
Cough or cold symptoms lasting longer than 10 days.
Fever with sore throat.
Rash lasting over 3 days.
Mild injury with persistent swelling or pain.
Symptoms that come and go over a long period.
Symptoms that are lasting longer than expected.
